Twenty-one participants in Saturday’s Chase County Challenge were lined up along the east perimeter at City Square to accept donations and provide information on their organization. One booth was in the library.
There was a turn of events at the first annual Chase County Challenge when organizations received an unexpected amount of support.
New legislation passed in the 2023 Nebraska Unicameral session, LB 583, will send $1,500 to public schools for each student enrolled for the 2023-24 year.

The line was long for the 6 p.m. BBQ meal which served about 350 people and featured meat cooked by the smokin’ contestants.

Chris and Stacy Towns of Imperial took to dancing early to the music of CW & Twenty Hands High, who entertained for three hours Saturday evening.
It was a busy day in Imperial Saturday, and one of the big events drawing crowds was Smokin’ on Broadway.

Mike and Cindy Liewer, at left with granddaughter Drew, have sold their funeral homes in Imperial, Wauneta and Benkelman to Stephen and Kayla Mulder. The Mulders and their two children, Devyn and Owen, moved to Imperial earlier this month.

A dry, dusty road is believed to have contributed to a rear-end collision/accident Sunday afternoon.
