Arlene Bergmeier - April 02, 2009


Arlene Esther Bergmeier, age 83 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday evening, March 26, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Arlene was born June 26, 1925 in Plymouth, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Hansjurgen) Niemeier.
She was confirmed on May 21, 1939 at the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice.
She married Robert E. Bergmeier on Nov. 17, 1946 in Beatrice. The couple lived on a farm in the Plymouth area for 15 years raising three children until moving to Beatrice where Arlene cleaned homes and was employed at the Beatrice State Home.
In 1978 they moved to Imperial where she worked in the meat department at Super Foods Grocery. For the past 11 years Arlene had resided in Ogallala. She was a member of RSVP and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Arlene was a very loving mother and wife. She enjoyed visiting her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to church. She enjoyed making angel food cakes and pies for her friends and family, canning vegetables from her own garden and especially loved flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Gary, and wife, Linda Bergmeier, of Ogallala, Robert Bergmeier of Yukon, Okla.; grandchildren, Shelly and Jason Bricker of Paxton, Sherri and Jeff Garcia of Lincoln, Jodi and Brian Hunzeker of Ridgefield, Wash., Scott Bergmeier of Lincoln, Carmen and Mike Morgan of Piedmont, Okla., Gretchin Sass of Oklahoma City, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Kailen, Jaron and Ellie Bricker of Paxton, Gavin and Garrett Garcia of Lincoln, Brynnley and Hayden Hunzeker of Ridgefield, Wash., Lane, Connor and Alexis Morgan of Piedmont, Okla.; brother, LaVern, and wife, JoAnn Niemeier, of Beatrice; sisters, Merna Pohlman of Beatrice and Delma Bergmeier of Wilber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bergmeier; a son, Brian Bergmeier; granddaughter, Heather Bergmeier; sister, Elvera Stokebrand; and her parents, Henry and Lydia Niemeier.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Ogallala with Pastor Robert Pierce officiating.
Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.
