Wauneta-Palisade Broncos have final tune up before RPAC

The Wauneta-Palisade track teams head to the RPAC meet Thursday after a girls team win at the Hitchcock County Invite last week.
Besides the girls championship, the boys team claimed three individual wins.
Head Coach Dawn Doetker said the weather was nice in Trenton and her team competed well.
“We had some things that went very well and some things that we need to continue to work on with technique in field events, hand offs, block starts,” she added.
Ashton Wheeler placed first in the 100-meter dash and long jump, while Trey McCrumb took the win in triple jump. Draven Miner was second in shot put.
Doetker said boys field events have been very strong for the Broncos.
“They have been working very hard,” she continued.
WP had five throwers in both shot put and discus. Besides Miner, Noah Sandman placed sixth in discus and seventh in shot put.
For the girls, Cheyenne Parrish won the 400-meter dash, and triple jump, while finishing second in the 200. Parrish, McKenna Doetker, Emma Acton and Izzy Stehno combined to place second in the 400-meter relay.
Acton, Saviana Carrizales, Doetker and Jewel Holthus won the 1,600-meter relay.
Other wins went to Doetker in the 100-meter dash and Peyton Cox in the shot put.
Acton placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, GraCee Goings finished just behind Cox in the shot put and Lillian Dinnel finished second to Parrish in triple jump.
Addalyn Einspahr took third place in the 800-meter run, while Dinnel was third in high jump and Doetker third in long jump.
“We moved Cheyenne to the open 400 to see what she could do and she won the race for us.  Our 4x800 relay ran and did a great job to get us team points.  Everyone worked hard and had a goal that they wanted to win the meet,” Doetker said.
The Broncos take on the RPAC Thursday in Arapahoe.
The girls side of the conference is especially loaded this year.
Doetker said her team will keep pushing and working hard to get ready for districts, which is also loaded with RPAC teams.
After the Best of the Midwest next Tuesday, WP will only have the Dundy County Stratton Twilight May 3 before districts the following Wednesday.
