Colleen Dame - January 26, 2012


Colleen Carter Dame, 94, died Jan. 16, 2012, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial.
She was born July 1, 1917 to Robert and Bernice (Finley) Carter in Palisade, Neb.
She received her teaching degree at the Kearney Teachers College. She taught at several area schools and also in Alaska.
She married Norval (“Swede”) Dame on June 6, 1941, in Stratton, Neb., where they lived until moving to Alaska. She retired in New Mexico and Colorado, then to Imperial.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norval on December 1987; three brothers, William (Gen) Carter of California, Leslie (Laura) Carter of Mission, Texas, and Keith (Mildred) Carter of Omaha, Neb.; and sister, Carroll (Lee) Agee of California.
Survivors include sisters, Eloise (Ernie) Rora of California, Evelyn (Larry) Klippel of California, Shirley (Jim) Fanning of Imperial, Neb.; two brothers, Frank (Twila) Carter of Grand Island, Neb., Lee (Marjorie) Carter of McCook, Neb. and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be at a later date.
Interment will be Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton.
