Dale ‘Red’ Donald Terry - October 15, 2009
Dale Donald Terry was born in Wauneta, Neb. on Oct. 2, 1929, to Beulah and Norman Terry, both have preceded him in death. He passed away May 1, 2009 after a lengthy battle with esophageal cancer.
Dale attended Wauneta High School and graduated in 1947. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea as a vehicle maintenance repairman until April 1952. On his discharge from military service he returned to Nebraska.
He married Betty Duysen on Oct. 29, 1951. Two daughters were born to this union. The family lived in the Denver area for several years before moving to the Chicago area. United Airlines employed Dale until his retirement in 1982.He resided in Nevada, Mo. until his death.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed that sport with his family and grandsons.
He is survived by his daughters, Vickie (Frank) Briscoe, Nevada, Mo., Debra (Rich) Pinta, Carl Junction, Mo.; three grandsons, Shawn (Becky) Briscoe, Anchorage, Alaska, Dan and Mark Pinta, Carl Junction, Mo.; one great grandson, Benjamin Briscoe, Anchorage; brother, Gene (Dorothy) Terry; sister, Norma (Dale) Einspahr; also many nieces and nephews.
His wife Betty; two brothers, Clinton and Kenneth, preceded Dale in death.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America.
