A big group of Imperial swimmers will be at the end-of-season championship meet in Lexington Saturday.
Thirty-six from the local swim team made the cut for the state meet equivalent by placing high enough at Saturday’s district qualifying meet in Imperial.
Coach Michelle Wilson said the team did “pretty good,” noting the large number who’ll be at the championships on Saturday.
It was Imperial’s first time hosting the district meet, largely due to the new pool opened here this season. She said the meet ran smoothly, concluding about 2:30 p.m. after an 8 a.m. start.
In order to qualify for the championships Saturday, swimmers had to place first, second or third in the individual and relay events at last Saturday’s meet.
For those placing lower than third, times are compared with finishes at two other district meets in western Nebraska for possible additional qualifications.
These are the Imperial qualifiers for the championship meet, which starts at 9 a.m. MT in Lexington:
Mallie McNair, Kambree Meeske, Macy Coleman, Gentry Fisher, Taylor Jablonski, Kalen Wallin, Kobe Clevenger, Landis Beverly, Christina Pflum, Kelly Christensen, Kaylee Meeske, Stevie Baker,
Lauren Prior, Alex Pflum, Taylin McNair, Megan Engbrecht, Alexsis Jensen, Blake Schilke, Jace Clevenger, Caine Haarberg, Will Kuenne, Dakota Wallin, Charlie Ann Carter, Janessa Haarberg,
Claire Kuenne, Makenna Wallin, Aubrey Fisher, Eli Engbrecht, Sabrina Hayes, Alyssa Fisher, Ethan Haarberg, Garret Thompson, Justus Wallin, Kevin German, Justin German, Hannah Harmon.
