New, interactive community calendar up and running PDF Print E-mail

With at least 50 active organizations operating in Imperial, events being scheduled on the same date is not uncommon.
And, sometimes, communication about an organization’s meeting time or special event isn’t as good as it could be.
Those are issues members of Imperial’s Nebraska Community Improvement Program (NCIP) committee discovered recently. The need for some type of community calendar was further reinforced as the city of Imperial updated its website several months ago.
At the suggestion of the NCIP committee, Leslie Carl­holm, the city’s community development director, started researching what other communities and organizations were doing with such calendars. Most were using “text” calendars, in which event information was entered from a central point.
Then, a “Meeting of the Minds” was organized to which all Imperial area organizations were invited in March.
