Council will consider minor zoning changes to city’s economic development property PDF Print E-mail

At last week’s meeting, city council members approved a replat of the economic development property purchased last year, east of Schroeder Park.
This Monday, June 28, the council will address a couple of slight zoning changes there recommended by the Planning Commission. That discussion will come during the council’s 6:30 p.m. meeting.
The Planning Commission recommendations would extend the light industrial zoning in the southeast part of the plat further east to meet Highway 61, and change the zoning on two lots south of the Dan Thompson home back to R-1 (single family or duplex). The replat changed those lots to R-2, which allows multi-family residences such as apartment complexes.
Dan and Connie Thompson were at a recent Planning Commission meeting and requested the two lots be left at R-1.
The existing zoning on the south section of the property that borders Cape Street is now zoned light industrial (I-1), except for several acres that border Highway 61.
