Contractor continues work on pool leaks

General contractor for the Imperial pool, Simon Contractors of North Platte, installed the coupling over the pool’s main drain on Monday, but it continues to leak.
That’s the news received by City Clerk/Administrator Jo Leyland and Public Works Supt. Pat Davison this week as city officials continue to grapple with the pool problems.
Leyland said the coupling was clamped on the pool’s main drain and bolted in place but the pool continued to leak, apparently from another location.
Simon Contractors believed the second leak was from the surge tank, but that proved false after initial tests, she said.
On Tuesday, the crew was attempting to acquire a camera to take another look inside the pipes.
Leyland said the problems are very frustrating to city officials, and emphasized they are doing all they can to get the problem resolved.
They are still hopeful the pool can open by the Fourth of July weekend, but it depends on finding this latest leak.
