VFW Post hosts annual Veterans Day dinner
Andrew Kinder Post #4688 held its annual Veteran’s Day dinner on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the VFW Hall in Imperial. There were approximately 75 people present.
The invocation was given by Leo Lines and the Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.
Following the meal, guest speaker Eldon Kuntzelman, a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard, from Imperial spoke on his adventures in Afghanistan. He and other Guardsmen went over to educate the farmers on their farming techniques.
Scott Parker extended regrets from Danny Pummill, who was supposed to be the guest speaker. Pummill was called to Ft. Hood Texas, after the tragedy on Nov. 3 and was unable to attend.
Post Commander P.J. Pajerski enlightened everyone on the activities for the coming year of the Post and Auxiliary, and commented that there are several projects that have been sent to district ready to be judged. Winners from there will then be sent on to state.
Some of those projects are: Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Essay Contests; Teacher of the Year, which has three categories (K-5, 6-8 and 9-12); Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer, Firefighter and EMT.
Commander Pajerski also thanked Auxiliary member Sue Meyers for the work she is doing on getting pictures of all the members of the military from Chase County from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
She is framing 8x10 pictures of all of these men and women and they will hang on the wall in the local VFW Hall. If you know of a person who has served and the VFW doesn’t have a picture, please get it to the VFW so it can be include it with the other veterans.
There is also an unidentified picture from WWII, which is hanging in the VFW Hall. If you thing you could identify him, please contact either Commander Pajerski or Auxiliary President Sue Moore.
Thanks were expressed to everyone who attended, for bringing the delicious food and to Auxiliary members who donated food and set up for the dinner.
