New stress test equipment in use for county hospital’s Cardiac Rehab Program PDF Print E-mail

Chase County Community Hospital purchased and installed a new treadmill system as part of the out patient cardiac testing and cardiac rehabilitation program at the hospital.
According to Cindy Arterburn, RN, and department head of Cardiac Rehabilitation, “The old machine had been used for 14 years and was in need of replacement.”
The new treadmill comes with several advantages.
First, electronic records will be a requirement of all hospitals in the near futures. Features included with the new equipment allow test information to tie right into the electronic records system of the hospital.
Another important efficiency factor is that physicians administering stress tests can enter information into the system during testing rather than waiting and generating reports at a later time.
“The new equipment is also very user friendly, which is a big plus,” stated Arterburn.
If the past is any indication of future use, the new treadmill will get put through the paces. During the past five years there have been 14,391 patient visits between cardiac rehabilitation patients and stress tests.
