On Friday morning, there was a two vehicle accident a couple miles east of Imperial on Highway 6. A semi truck and an SUV traveling opposite directions, nearly side-swiped one another, busting the drivers side mirror off the SUV. No injuries were reported.

As Nebraska’s 2026 Primary Election approaches on Tuesday, May 12, The Imperial Republican has asked local candidates why they are the most qualified to fill the position they are running to for.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department responded to flames in a corn field south of Nutrien Ag, just east of Imperial. With winds gusting around 30 mph, the flames were crossing the picked corn field at a rapid pace. It only took about 20 minutes for IVFD to contain the fire. Crews stayed on site cooling hot spots until a disk arrived and covered the burnt area.
