Special City Council meeting held over removal of city clerk

On Thursday, Jan. 29, a special meeting of the Imperial City Council held at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

Tragedy struck Monday afternoon when a white Ford pickup collided with a semi truck with a load of cattle at the intersection of 12th St. and Hwy. 61. The driver of the pickup was killed instantly and three of the cattle in the trailer had to be put down.

In the early morning hours Tuesday Jan. 27, the Imperial Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Lamar Volunteer Fire Dept. were called to a structure fire in Lamar. The old church that was no longer in use was a total loss. The quonset beside the church, owned by Kevin Way’s Trucking Company was unharmed. Crews worked until mid morning making sure the fire was contained and out.
