Varsity softball picks up two wins in busy week

Chase County picked up a pair of wins from Holyoke, Colo., when the Lady Dragons were in Imperial for a pair of varsity games Aug. 29.

Longhorn girls repeat at Cambridge; boys second

Chase County’s cross country teams got the season off to a strong start at the Cambridge Invitational meet Friday.

Fair run draws more than 100 participants

Participation was up more than 10 percent at this year’s Chase County Fair Run held early in the morning Aug. 19.

Coach Dan Lenners praised the Longhorns’ defensive play against Cozad Friday. The defense gave up just two touchdowns but a pick-six interception spelled the difference in the contest.

Kadin Vrbas led the Longhorn rushing attack with 138 yards including a 75-yard touchdown run.

Turnovers proved costly in the Longhorns’ 19-13 loss to the Cozad Haymakers in the season opener there Friday.
