A group of junior high school students from Chase County Schools made their way to Arapahoe April 1 to compete in both vocal and instrumental events in the Arapahoe/Cambridge 5-8 Music Contest.
Hamlet, Palisade, Culbertson, Hayes Center, Haigler and Trenton received “in-lieu of tax” payments from Southwest Public Power District totaling $84,904.35.
Although the Chase County Schools board of education handled another resignation this week, three new teachers were also hired for the 2023-24 school year.
With 80-degree temperatures this week in Imperial, snow that was still piled on the ground just last week should be gone.

A house northwest of Imperial was fully engulfed when the Imperial and Lamar Volunteer Fire Departments arrived last Wednesday. The home was a total loss.
An investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined an afternoon fire April 5 northwest of Imperial was accidental.
