Bob Eidson - November 21, 2013
Bob Eidson of Sacramento, Calif., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. He was born May 2, 1938 to Orville and Delia (Tamagni) Eidson.
A rodeo competitor from the age of 16, Bob competed at the highest level in ProRodeo for 15 seasons, making it to the National Finals Rodeo. He finished sixth in 1963 and 1964.
Upon his retirement from competing in rodeo, Bob went to work for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1974. He served for three years as activities director before moving up to become the executive vice president for more than a decade.
Bob worked extensively with national PRCA sponsors and was involved with more than 100 television broadcasts. He was voted the PRCA’s ProRodeo Man of the Year in 1978. In 1979, he was instrumental in planning and building the PRCA Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colo. In 1983, Bob was responsible for coordinating a command performance rodeo for President Reagan at the White House after which he presented the President with an honorary PRCA card.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Orville Eidson; mother, Delia Stinson; brother, Orville “Chip” Eidson; many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He is survived by his daughter, Summer Eidson, and his son, Sage Eidson, both who graduated from high school in Holyoke, Colo., and currently live in Omaha.
Other survivors in the area include Summer and Sage’s mother, half brother and grandparents, Joni Eidson, Shay Eidson, Ernest “Gunner” Martin, Jr., all of Lamar, and Jacqueline Martin of Benkelman.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
