Mary Brown - October 20, 2011
Mary Louise (Eby) Brown was born in Soldier, Kan. on Jan. 9, 1937 and passed away in Kearney Good Samaritan Hospital on Oct. 11, 2011 at the age of 74.
She was the daughter of Ralph and Theresa Eby of Soldier, Kan. Mary was united in marriage to Anthon Brown on Nov. 24, 1954. To this union seven children were born: Rose and Bruce Eskew of Buffalo, Kan., Anthony (Tony) of Imperial, Neb., Andrew (Andy) and Carol of Champion, Neb., Timothy (Tim) and Teresa (deceased) of McCook, Neb., Lori and John Todd of Centennial, Colo., Karen and Dean VanVleet of Larned, Kan. and Michael (Mike) and Bonnie of McCook, Neb. Mary had 22 grandchildren, two of whom preceded her in death, and 26 great-grandchildren. Mary had six siblings of which four brothers: Delmer, George, Ralph, and John and one sister, Jean, preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Roseanne of Herndon, Kan.
Mary was widowed on June 17, 1967 with the untimely death of her husband Anthon. Along with the help from family members, she supported her seven children as a CNA for McCook and surrounding hospitals. She then furthered her education and received her LPN license and was employed at the Imperial Manor for 12 years. Once retired, she moved to McCook before then returning to Imperial.
The rosary and funeral mass were held Friday, Oct. 14 at the Sacred Heart Church in Atwood, Kan. She was laid to rest in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Tully (Atwood), Kan.
