Iris Fisbeck - May 26, 2011


?Iris “Si” Lola Fisbeck of Holyoke, Colo., was born Sept. 25, 1912 in Bostwick, Neb. to Charles and Alice (Adams) Welton. She was one of 11 children.
She died May 18, 2011 at the age of 98.
She attended school through eighth grade in Nebraska.
On April 14, 1932, Iris was united in marriage to Gus Fisbeck. To this union, four daughters and three sons were born.
Iris and Gus celebrated their 50th anniversary in April of 1982.
The family moved from Nebraska to Colorado in 1945. They first lived in Paoli and a short time later they moved to Holyoke.
Iris was baptized and confirmed Aug. 8, 1937. She remained a faithful member of Zion until the time of her death.
Throughout her life, Iris worked at various cafes in Holyoke. She began as a waitress and later was a cook.
Iris enjoyed raising a garden. She also enjoyed playing games, especially cards and marbles.
Iris was a resident at Carriage House at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; daughter, Shirley Reinhard; brothers, Lloyd, Arnold, Charles, Leonard, Donald and Virgil; sisters, Fern, Helen and Myrtle; and a great-grandson.
Iris is survived by her sister, Peggy Wheeler of Oregon; children, Kathleen Matthews of Bellevue, Neb., Elaine Papen and husband, Russ, of Mountain Home, Ark., Betty Bahler and husband, Ray, of Lamar, Neb., Larry Fisbeck and wife, Shirley, of Sidney, Neb., and Allen Fisbeck and wife, Deb, and Darrell Fisbeck and wife, Viann, all of Red Cloud, Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held May 23 at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating.
Interment followed at the Holyoke Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Regent Park & Carriage House or to Zion Lutheran Church.
Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
