Lucile Newman - January 25, 2009


Lucile Mae (Walgren) Newman, 79, of Longwood, Fla., formerly of Leesburg, Fla., and Littleton, Colo., went home to meet the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 54 years, Bob L. Newman.
Lucile, daughter of Lillian and Les Walgren, was born in Wauneta, Neb., on June 14, 1929, into a large and loving family.
Mrs. Newman began her career as an elementary school teacher, and later joined her husband in the family real estate business. But the primary focus of her life was that of a fulltime homemaker, devoted wife and mother. She carried a deep love for her children and grandchildren.
She took pleasure in entertaining friends and family. She was known for her lively personality, baking and gourmet cooking and enjoyed golf and bridge.
Lucile is survived by her son, Jim Newman, and wife, Lois, and daughter, Jacqueline, and husband, Ed Nuss; and grandson, Brett Nuss, and wife, Jodi, and granddaughter, Brandi Nuss, as well as three sisters: Maxine Kimble, Evelyn Kanost and Janice Trefren and two brothers, Bob and Keith Walgren.
A memorial service was held at the Methodist Church in Wauneta, Neb., on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Judy Dye officiating.
Organist was Mrs. Diana Ham and the United Methodist Choir sang.
Inurnment was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, Neb.
