Michael ‘Mike’ D. Way - November 04, 2010


Michael ‘Mike’ D. Way, BMCS (retired) passed away Oct. 29, 2010 at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center.
Mike was born Sept. 18, 1947 in David City, Neb. to Elmer and Dorene (Gooseman) Way.
In 1965, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served until his retirement in March 1992.
After retiring, he settled down in North Platte and spent time working at the “Eat-A-Bite” with his future wife Sue.
Mike was a dedicated life-long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Imperial and North Platte. He held various offices there including Senior Vice Commander of Post 1504. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Cooties.
Survivors include his wife, Susan M. Way; his mother, Dorene Way; children, Terry (Jackie) Way, Ron (Stacey) Bolin, Ginger (Dave) Wentz, Cristy Way, Misty Way and Patrick Way; step-children, Tim Dennis and Rhonda Whitmer; six brothers and a sister, Ron (Rose) Way, Diane (Louie) Herrick, Steve (Terri) Way, Dennis Way, Dan (Pam) Way, Bruce (Dianne) Way and Randy Way; and numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Elmer D. Way; and sister, Patricia Ann Way.
A memorial has been established and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.
Services will be Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Adams & Swanson Chapel.
Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Ceme­tery with Military honors graveside.
A dinner will be held at the VFW Club at 2100 East 4th Street in North Platte, following the burial.
Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
