Gold Team prevails in high-scoring all-star game PDF Print E-mail

Chase County’s Justus Wallin played on the winning Gold Team in Friday’s 8th annual Mid-Plains Area All-Star Basketball Boys’ Game.
In a high-scoring contest, the Gold All-Stars overcame the Black 95-91.
The game was highlighted with a lot of outside shooting with a total of 24 treys recorded, 13 by the Gold and 11 by the Black All-Stars.
Wallin was one of the Gold Team starters and dropped in one field goal in the third quarter.
Wallin’s teammate Kade Erickson of North Platte High School was the game’s scoring leader with 19, including four treys. The Black Team’s Drew Callaghan, also of North Platte High, was close behind with 18 points.
A former assistant girls’ basketball coach at Chase County, Mike Tines, who now coaches at Hitchcock County, headed up the boys’ Black Team in last week’s game.
In the girls’ game which preceded the boys’ contest, the Black All-Stars won a one-sided game over the Gold, 67-43.
Wauneta-Palisade’s Tailor Lee, playing for the Black, was the game’s leading scorer with 13 points.     
Abbie Fanning, also of Wauneta-Palisade, was also picked as a Black Team All-Star, but was unable to play due to an injury. She was on the sidelines keeping stats.
