It’s official. Barbara (Barb) Prottsman is the new postmaster at the Imperial Post Office.
Prottsman has been the Officer in Charge since February, when former Postmaster Jerry Lines retired.
At that time, no one had applied for the postmaster position. Prottsman said Tuesday that “After I was here I enjoyed it, so decided to put in for it (postmaster).”
A Venango resident, Prottsman has been commuting, but is considering moving to Imperial. Husband Marlon is currently helping with different farming operations.
Prottsman was postmaster in Venango for 10 years, then served as postmaster in Cozad for three years before assuming the Imperial Officer in Charge position.
She supervises rural carriers, postmaster replacements and clerks in the Imperial, Enders and Champion Post Offices.
The new postmaster’s position officially begins today (Thursday).
