If the lines at the take-out window, plus the cars dotting the parking lot are any clue, JJ’s is a busy place since opening last week.
JJ’s is the former Sweden Creme, now owned by Jennifer Bell and Jason Faling. It was previously owned by Ron and Mary Harding of Holyoke, Colo.
The owners had a “soft” opening for lunch only on April 14. Last Saturday they started their regular hours, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Expresso window opens at 6 a.m., serving all types of Italian hot and cold drinks and sodas, as well as JJ’s, a cold coffee-based drink that Bell said is already popular.
The grill opens at 7 a.m., serving a full breakfast menu and a full line of breakfast pastries.
The menu for lunch and dinner consists of a wide variety of hamburgers, homestyle chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, soft serve ice cream, banana splits, rootbeer floats and desserts.
JJ’s is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
Bell said she and Faling have been working on the restaurant for four months, cleaning, installing new walls and learning about the new equipment.
There are currently 11 employees. Bell said in less than a week they have learned to work quickly, making a four-minute “turn around” from the time of ordering to the time of delivery.
She said people wishing to pick up take-out orders should call ahead during the lunch and dinner hours so as not to crowd the drive-through window.
JJ’s phone number is 308-882-3014.
