A Holyoke, Colo. resident seriously injured in an auto accident in Wyoming Sept. 25 has returned  home. Brittney Ferguson, who was a sophomore at the University of Wyoming at the time of the accident, has been hospitalized or at Craig Rehabilitation Clinic in Denver since the accident.
Brittney and her parents, Connie and Rance Ferguson, moved back to Holyoke March 11. Connie was employed by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Imperial at the time of the accident.
The student sustained a fractured skull, multiple face fractures, a blown eye socket, broken ribs and a fractured ankle in the one-vehicle accident.
After numerous surgeries and setbacks such as an aneurysm and the stomach flu, Brittney is able to walk while in a pool, has regained tongue function, and smiles a lot, according to her mother.
She continues therapies, and Connie said “We still hope and pray every day that today will be the day she says a word!”
Her mother said Brittney is  happy to be home. “She has been a lot more relaxed and calmer and she smiles a whole lot more as well.”
