The Imperial soccer season is at its biggest ever, with over 150 children enrolled this year. The games begin Saturday, and run for six weeks.
Coordinator Shannon Kuhlmann said this is the biggest group of children ever enrolled for the sport, started about 10 years ago in Imperial.
Teams include six “U6,” or under six years of age; three “U8,” three “U10,” two “U14,” and one high school team.
Most of the teams will play on Saturdays, but the high school team will play on Tuesdays. The U14 and high school teams will play at the old football field, while the younger teams will play at Schroeder Park.
The teams will play soccer clubs from Ogallala, Grant, Garden County and Deuel County.
The local teams are sponsored by Great Plains Soccer Club and the City of Imperial.
