A one-vehicle accident north of Benkelman early Sunday morning resulted in injuries to an 18-year old Imperial man.
According to the Dundy County Sheriff’s Department, Kyle Simmonds was a passenger in a 1999 Ford Contour driven by Seven Dinnel, 39, of Imperial. The vehicle left the road and rolled seven and one-half miles north of Benkelman on Hwy. 61 about 1:30 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Department said Dinnel was wearing a seat belt, but Simmonds wasn’t and was thrown from the vehicle. She wasn’t injured, but he was airlifted from the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney with unknown injuries.
No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The vehicle was a total loss.
The Sheriff’s Department said citations are pending.
