New Nurse Practitioner busy at clinic, hospital PDF Print E-mail

    The newest Nurse Practitioner at Chase County Community Hospital and Chase County Clinic is already familiar with the facilities. Brandy Hanes did a clinical rotation in Imperial her last semester at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2007.
    Hanes began working part time as a Nurse Practitioner the first of January. She and her family moved to Imperial the end of November.
    A Nurse Practitioner manages acute and minor illnesses and stable chronic illnesses such as colics, colds, stable high blood pressure and asthma, some diabetic management, well women and well child exams, weight management, smoking cessation and arthritis and osteoporosis management.    
    Hanes said she has an agreement with the doctors working at the hospital and clinic for supervision of treatment.
    Hanes, who is married to former Imperial resident Jamie Hanes, graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1998. She received a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from the University Medical Center in 2003, followed by a Masters of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus from the Med Center in 2007.
    She  has been a nurse on the vascular and general surgery floor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., as well as a Nurse Practitioner in family practice at Mayo Health Systems in Albert Lea, Minn.
    The couple has a daughter, Madelynn, 4, and a son, Miles, 16 months. Jamie Hanes is a pharmacist at Adams Drug in Imperial.
