Chase County hosts FCCLA district STAR competition on Jan. 21 PDF Print E-mail

 

    The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) district STAR competition was hosted by the Imperial chapter on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
    STAR stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition.
    District schools attending in addition to Chase County were Perkins County, Dundy County-Stratton, Medicine Valley, Wallace and Creek Valley.
    Sixty-seven students competed in 14 events including Parliamentary Procedure, Chapter Showcase, Consumer Issues, Family Challenges & Issues, Health & Wellness, Applied Technology, Career Investigation, Focus on Children, Illustrated Talk, Interpersonal Communications, Job Interview, National Programs in Action, Recycle & Redesign and Life Event Planning.
     Representing Chase County in the STAR competition were Celia Serna, who received a Silver medal in Recycle & Redesign, and Josh Richmond and Samantha Westfahl, who received a silver medal in National Programs in Action.
     Community members who served as judges for the competition were Jo Leyland, Joni Kaiser, Randy Vlasin, Brenda Ledall, Tina Hayes and Leslie Carlholm. The event was held at the Imperial Bible Church.
