Scott Giles, the new manager of Alco in Imperial, is no stranger to the system. He applied for the job because he’d been with the chain for 15 years.
Giles, who began his new job here Feb. 21, spent his previous years with Alco in Canyon City, Colo., and Cordell, Okla. He most recently managed a Home Depot in Colorado Springs.
The 47-year old and wife Carol wanted to return to a smaller town. In addition, “Alco is family-oriented, and it was time to move back. We like the way a small town feels.”
Giles is an Aurora, Colo., native, graduating from high school there. He also attended Metropolitan State University in Denver.
Family includes a daughter and son-in-law in Colorado Springs and a son stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz.
His goals for the local Alco are three-fold—make the store customer friendly, keep it well stocked and keep it neat and clean. There are 16 employees at the Imperial store.
“I’m glad to be here,” Giles commented.
He enjoys playing golf and camping with his wife.
The manager replaces Jill Fiedler, who is now a manager at Holyoke Marketplace in Holyoke, Colo. She managed Alco from its opening in the fall of 2005 until present.
