This summer is mirroring the summer of 2009, when looking at the higher-than-usual moisture totals.
As July came to an end last week, the rainfall from May, June and July of nearly 12.5 inches is nearly exact to last year’s rain totals from the same three summer months.
This year, those three months ended with 12.47 inches of rain. During May, June and July of 2009, the three-month total was 12.49 inches.
However, the distribution over those three months was a lot different in the two years.
June ended this year with a whopping 7.76 inches of moisture, while just 4.61 inches fell in June, 2009.
