Imperial’s citywide garage sales have always had a huge following.
This year’s sales will have an added draw because they are being scheduled the weekend of Imperial’s big 125th celebration.
The citywide garage sales will kick off at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 3.
The Imperial Chamber of Commerce moved the citywide sales from June when they have normally been held so they would be part of Imperial’s celebration this year.
“I think Imperial’s 125th will have an extra draw for the garage sales this year,” said Mary Deyle, a Chamber member and chairman of the city’s 125th planning committee.
“They’ve always had a huge following. With the 125th, I think there will be a bigger draw yet for the garage sales,” she said.
Committee members encourage those coming to town for the garage sales to also take in the many 125th events on Saturday.
Individuals wishing to sign up for the citywide garage sales can do so now for $10.
Signups are being taken at The Imperial Republican office. Those registering by 5 p.m. MT on Monday, June 28, will be assured a spot on the citywide garage sales map.
Each garage sale site will be starred on the map.
The map will also be printed in the July 1 issue of The Imperial Republican.
The maps will be out early Saturday morning in front of The Imperial Republican office at 622 Broadway for people to pick up and direct them to sales throughout town.
The sales start at 7 a.m. and people can run them as long that day as they wish, Deyle said.
Imperial has a full slate of activities on tap for its 125th celebration July 2-4. See the schedule of events on page 11.
Business specials for 125th
Imperial businesses are being encouraged by the chamber to run specials at their businesses the week of Imperial’s 125th celebration.
The chamber’s promotions committee suggests that businesses consider aligning their specials with the number 125 or 1885, the year that Imperial was founded and platted.
As an example, they could offer special sale items for $12.50 or $18.85.
