Drivers along East 5th St., should expect short sections of that street to be closed in the next two weeks as work progresses on the storm sewer.
Removing the old storm sewer tubes and laying new pipe is part of the street project work on East 5th, which started last month by general contractor Cement Products, Inc. of North Platte.
Imperial Public Works Supt. Pat Davison said drivers need to be prepared for the street section closings on East 5th as the crew lays the new storm sewer under the street, running south to north.
They may be required to take short, alternate routes around the block, he said.
Davison emphasized the home and business owners along the street will have access to their properties.
Davison anticipates each section of street that is closed shouldn’t be for longer than a day or two.
However, that all depends on the weather, which hasn’t been very cooperative lately.
The Concrete Products, Inc., crew did not work last Friday due to rain, and more was received here Saturday.
Drainage work and new concrete streets will be put in on East 5th, 9th and 12th Sts., in this $1.821 million project.
