‘Tis the season for holiday music PDF Print E-mail

Students are caroling and teachers are directing as Chase County Schools heads into the Christmas concert season. The first two concerts are scheduled for next week.
On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the kindergarten through third grades will perform a play in the school auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m.
Teacher Amy Walworth said this is a departure from the usual program, as all students will be on the stage at the same time.
Walworth adapted “The Mitten” from a children’s story, writing the script and arranging songs for the children.
The third grade has been designated as the actors, with the other grades supporting the story.
Songs will be interspersed throughout the performance, Walworth said.
On Thursday, Dec. 10, the junior high, high school and Simply Jazz bands will perform at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Director Richard Munson said the junior high band will perform “A Magnificent Christmas,” “An Angelic Christmas” and “Holiday Funny Favorites.”
The senior high band will perform “Carol of the Bells,” “Just a Few Days of Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and “A Holly, Jolly Christmas.”
Simply Jazz will perform “Santa Rocks the House,” “It’s a Holiday Season,” “A Bari Cool Chart,” “Holiday Joy” and “White Christmas.”
Other upcoming concerts include the grade 5-8 band concert Dec. 14, the grade 7-12 vocal concert Dec. 15 and the grade 4-6 vocal concert on Dec. 17.
The last day of school before Christmas break is Dec. 18.
