Vanessa Terryberry has purchased the A Cut Above/Flower Cart building and will be opening “the COLOR box” Dec. 14. The purchase was finalized Nov. 9 with former owner Sandra Browning.
Terryberry is licensed in both Colorado and Nebraska. She attended school at Xenon in Denver, then took advanced training.
She was employed by Bella Salon in Imperial for almost four years, quitting when she was pregnant with twin sons Ky and Trace.
The boys had a number of medical problems, but are both healthy now. They will be two in December.
the COLOR box will offer family hair care such as hair cuts, colors, waxing and conditioning treatments. Terryberry is also available for prom and wedding styling.
She said she purchased the business because while she was home with the boys she received many calls asking her to cut hair.
“I’d worked for someone else, and now want to do things on my own,” she said.
“People still wanting me made me want to advance my career.”
Plans are for Terryberry to employ a receptionist and one part-time stylist.
Hours will be Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday 1-7 p.m., Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday by appointment. The shop will be closed on Fridays.
Terryberry has no plans to continue offering a florist shop.
Browning opened A Cut Above 23 years ago, first in the Hills Family Foods storage building and then at the present location at 514 Broadway. She added The Flower Cart 10 years ago.
