Robert ‘Bob’ Molzahn - September 02, 2010

Robert “Bob” Molzahn was born May 23, 1933, in Imperial, Neb. to William F. and Pauline (Hill) Molzahn.
He attended grade school and high school in Imperial graduating from Chase County High School in 1950.
He farmed with his father for many years and continued farming after his father retired. After he sold the farm in the late 1960s, he remained in the agriculture business selling and servicing irrigation sprinklers. He worked for several different irrigation companies for the next 18 years.
In 1988 he started a lawn care business with his long-time friend, Jack Cooper.
On Friday morning, Aug. 27, 2010, he passed away while working.
Bob married Rosetta Smith on Aug. 23, 1969, in Imperial, Neb. They had just celebrated their 41st anniversary.
Bob loved the outdoors. When he wasn’t mowing lawns, he was on the golf course, or at the goose pit. He loved golfing, goose hunting, fishing and spending time with his dog, Bella. Bob always had a dog. They were his constant companions.
Bob had many friends who will miss him at the coffee shop, golf course or goose pit. It won’t be the same without Bob there.
He was a Charter member of the Eagles Club and a past member of the Imperial Jaycees.
Harlan Smith and Bob were instrumental in developing youth baseball in the community in the mid-1960s. He loved to play baseball and coached for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Pauline; a brother, Bill Molzahn; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Smith; and a grandson, Wade Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; children, Mike Molzahn and Diana Hoffmeister of Trenton, Neb., Steve Smith and wife, Peggy, of Imperial, Mike Smith and wife, Ann, of Leesburg, Ga., Teri Spady and husband, Lennie, of Imperial, Dick Smith and friend Susie Abler of Omaha, Neb. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Troy Spady and wife, Lynn, Adam Spady, Nick Spady, Jon Spady, Jarod Smith and wife, Lisa, Jamie Jussel and husband, Chris, Holly Lempke and husband, Jeff, Zeb Smith and friend Kate, Kaitlyn Smith, Trea Smith, Lindsey Teply and husband, Matt, Lindsey Pankonin and husband, Johnny, Megan Mueller and husband, Joel, Bret Smith and fiance, Jody, Tonja, Laura and Jean Hoffmeister; great grandchildren, Kristen and Logan Jussel, Tysen and Camron Lempke, Paige and Chase Smith, Tate Teply, Mason Spady, Tyler, Trevor, Trea and Toby Spady, Austin and Taylor Pankonin and Makenzie and Kaden Mueller. He is survived by brother and sister-in-laws, Bob and Lanell Steele, Dave Wareham, Jean Hahn and Opal Steele; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were held at Mount Hope Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Randy Hayes officiating.
Ronnie Moritz was soloist.
Honorary casketbearers were Jack Cooper, Jack Ekart, Kent Pribbeno, Tom Elder, Ralph Langhofer, Jack Welch, Bob Kluender, Lee Denker and Kenny Kitt.
Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb.
Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
