Imperial FFA holds annual banquet

    Saturday, April 27, the Imperial FFA Chapter held it’s annual banquet in the CCS Auditorium. The night kicked off with a welcome from Chapter President, Mason Tyerman, followed by the banquet meal in the commons area.
    All members and guests then moved to the auditorium for the many presentations from the members.
    Parliamentarian, Brooke Schilke gave the presentation on the junior high quiz bowl teams.
    The team of Cadence Lambert, Sawyer Sauder, Jaxson Villarreal and Damon Spady finished as State Champions. The team of Violet Sparrow, Aidan Vlasin, Bennett Kuenning and Luke Kuenning placed fifth.
    A third team also competed at state consisting of Aiden Tompky, Zak Anderson, Gavin Hiykel, Marie Adle and Dietrich Pursley.
    Reporter Jasmine Johnson gave out the National Foundation awards and historian Jecca Yaw gave the certificates of recognition.
    Sentinel Sean Heermann announced scholarships. The junior officers then presented a summary of the year in a slide show, which was followed by a high point blog presentation by Vice President Kylee Wiest.
    Treasurer Westyn Mendenhall gave a presentation on the labor auction, followed by president Mason Tyerman and secretary Kathya Aragon presenting the discovery, Greenhand, chapter and honorary degrees.
    Next, FFA advisor Jason Speck gave the special presentation awards.
    The most improved greenhand award went to Tilly Foote. James Adle received the star greenhand award and the Loral Johnson creed speaking award.
    The Eunice Speck courage award went to Alonso Martinez. Kylee Wiest received the Judy Hartman outstanding senior officer award and Malachi Christensen received the Katherine Cross workhorse award.
    Dominic Harris was presented the Sylvia Large effort award and Mason Tyerman was presented the Net Worth Award and Star chapter degree.
    The retiring senior officers received plaques for their service. For the first time this year, Mr. Speck presented the senior retiring officers with a rope to be worn at graduation if their scholastic accomplishments had met or exceeded the qualifications.
    All of the retiring senior officers had qualified academically and thus received their ropes. Mr. Speck announced that this would now become tradition moving forward.
    Tyerman gave the president’s retiring address and the new officers were installed.
    The officers for 2024-2025 are, Historian-Navy Havel, Parliamentarian-Beau Weiss, Reporter-Tessa Smith, Treasurer-Carter Kuenning, Sentinel-Westyn Mendenhall.
    Secretay-Jayme Gittlein, Vice-President-Jasmine Johnson and President-Malachi Christensen.
