Heather Martin - January 28, 2010

?Heather Anne Martin was born to Terry and Marye Martin Feb. 21, 1974 in Benkelman, Neb. and died Jan. 14, 2010.
?Heather and her family lived in Parks, Neb. until she was about two, when they moved 12 miles southwest of Champion, Neb., later moving into Imperial, Neb.
Ready for a life change, the family moved to Hawaii. Heather attended Parker Ranch Private School in Kamuela, and her soccer team went to state on the island of Kauai. She loved the beach and the Pacific Ocean.
Returning to Colorado, the family settled in Woodland Park. Heather attended school in Woodland Park for three years, graduating in 1992.
She attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. for a year, then returned to Woodland Park, where she worked as a dental assistant.
Tragedy struck during a pheasant hunting trip to Nebraska, when Heather was critically injured due to a shotgun discharge to her abdomen. She was at Denver Health Hospital in the ICU for 42 days and miraculously pulled through. She lived in Holyoke for a time and then moved to Colorado Springs.
The second miracle of her life, her daughter, Summer Faith, was born Oct. 29, 2004. Summer gave Heather’s life the meaning she had been looking for. She became a wonderful, loving mother, supporting her daughter as a single parent.
In 2007, Heather got back in touch with friend Korey Weaver from Woodland Park. Their relationship grew rapidly, and Heather and Summer moved to Woodland Park, where over the next three years Heather was incredibly happy. She had the love and presence of her daughter; her soulmate, Korey; and family every day in her life.
Heather loved to hunt, fish and run in the mountains. She loved her life, her relationship with God and the happiness she had found. She truly understood the power of prayer.
Heather was preceded in death by her grandparents, Phillip and Emma O’Brien and Bennie Martin.
She is survived by her precious daughter, Summer Faith; soulmate, Korey Weaver of Woodland Park; parents, Terry Martin of Holyoke and Marye O’Brien of Cañon City; brothers, Shad Martin of Greeley, Colo. and K.C. and his wife, Gina Martin, of Windsor, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Amber, Haley, Tayla and Teagan Martin; grandmother, Char Martin of Holyoke, Colo.; the entire Weaver family of Teller County; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and close friends who loved her dearly.
