Legislative candidates for the 44th District seat, incumbent Mark Christensen and challenger and former senator Tom Baker, will participate in a candidate forum next Wednesday, Oct. 20, in Grant.
The event will be held at the Perkins County High School gym beginning at 7 p.m. MDT.
Russ Pankonin, co-publisher of Johnson Publications, Inc., and sponsor of the event, said the forum will give voters the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and how they stand on issues.
Pankonin said the forum will be structured to give each candidate a chance to deliver an opening statement to share their background and views.
This will be followed by a question-answer period, followed by final statements by the candidates.
Christensen, the incumbent, won election in the 2006 General Election. He succeeded Baker in the 44th District seat.
Baker served two four-year terms representing the 44th District before leaving the Legislature after the 2006 session due to term limits.
Streaming on the web
For people unable to attend the event, the Perkins County Schools will provide live streaming of the forum over the web.

The event will also be archived on the site for further viewing.
Questions sought in advance

He said questions can be sent to him at The Imperial Republican, P.O. Box 727, Imperial, 69033, by fax at 308-882-5167, or by email at
Pankonin will serve as the moderator for the event, which is being sponsored by three Johnson Publications, Inc., newspapers—The Imperial Republican, The Grant Tribune-Sentinel and The Wauneta Breeze. Perkins County Schools will serve as host for the event.
