A young Dr. J. Gordon Christensen, original organizer of the Chase County Area Arts Council, at his piano. The CCAAC will host an art exhibition on Nov. 8 that signifies the launch of a community fundraiser to establish an arts center in Imperial. One anonymous donor will match funds raised up to $26,000, while another has pledged to match $1,000.

There was a lot of action at City Square on Thursday and Friday. Crews from Nielsen Construction were preparing to pour the first of many cement slabs and the city crew was hauling dump truck loads of dirt to the site. ALLO crews were also on site running their fiber lines for the Lappset Memo interactive equipment.

Farmers are in the fields, working to bring this years harvest in. Everyone should be mindful of this when traveling on the rural roads and highways. Please be patient and slow down. Never assume that someone in a large machine sees you. It is better to play it safe than risk your life. Above, a crew harvests popcorn on land North of town owned by AK Acres. You can also tell harvest has started by the line of trucks behind the elevators, waiting to be weighed and dump their load of crops.
