Saturday’s Art Exhibition hours expanded, Matching Challenge announced

In response to community feedback and to better accommodate those averse to getting out after dark, the Chase County Area Arts Council (CCAAC) has updated the hours for its upcoming art exhibition on Saturday, November 8. The event will now be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 928 Wellington in Imperial.
This special event will serve as the official launch of a community fundraising campaign to establish an arts center in Imperial, which will not only provide a dedicated space for local artists and events but also serve as the permanent home for the management and display of the Christensen Art Collection given to the community by former Chase County Schools music teacher and original organizer of CCAAC, Dr. J. Gordon Christensen.
An anonymous donor has offered a $26,000 matching challenge to support the establishment of a new arts center in Imperial. And, an anonymous CCS alumnus has offered a $1,000 matching challenge. These gifts make an extraordinary opportunity for community members to double their impact. Every dollar donated to the arts center initiative, up to a total of $26,000, will be matched dollar-for-dollar, effectively creating a potential total of $52,000 in immediate funding to launch the campaign. Donations will be accepted through cash, check, PayPal, GoFundMe.com and by direct deposit to CCAAC’s account at Pinnacle Bank.
Guests at Saturday’s event will have the opportunity to view a curated selection of art from the collection. Live music, performed by the musical quartet, String Fling will be offered between 4:30 and 6:30. These musicians are from the Nebraska panhandle and Northeast Colorado.
“We want to be sure everyone has an opportunity to experience this incredible collection and learn about our vision for a future arts center,” said CCAAC president Marcia Bauerle. “
Light refreshments will be served at the event and drinks will be available for purchase from Broken Arrow Cellars and Hanging Horseshoe Brewery.
