A return that’s immeasurable

The 50% return will pale in comparison to long-term benefits this effort will bring to our community.

It’s not every day when you can get a 50% return on your investment. In the case of the Imperial Community Foundation Fund, that’s exactly what’s happening.
The Sherwood Foundation of Omaha has made a strong commitment to enhancing life in rural Nebraska through its Rural Community Partnership grants.
Through these grants, The Sherwood Foundation® , formerly known as the Susan A. Buffett Foundation, promotes local involvement to address locally-identified priorities and thereby strengthen the common good we enjoy as fellow Nebraskans.
They focus on developing community leadership, leveraging skills and diversity in a community and fostering collaboration of stakeholders to build upon locally-controlled assets and resources.
Imperial and the Imperial Community Foundation Fund are among a handful of rural Nebraska communities selected as a recipient for Sherwood’s Rural Community Partnership.
As part of the partnership, the Sherwood Foundation offers a $250,000 matching grant to local foundation funds. But perhaps the biggest asset is the training and peer learning aspects to engage community involvement to make Imperial an even better place to live.
In return, Imperial and the foundation fund must raise $500,000 as a match—a 50% return on every dollar raised. The money raised through this combined effort will be placed in the foundation fund’s permanent endowment.
That means those dollars will be available in perpetuity, with only the investment earnings being used to enhance the Imperial-area community.
