Property tax relief on the horizon?

The question has been, and will always be, how are we going to pay for this.

When Sen. Dan Hughes went to the Nebraska Legislature in 2015, his focus centered on getting some property tax relief for rural Nebraskans. Five years later, the fight continues.
In the past, his urban colleagues have had little incentive to jump on board. Now, with urban Nebraska experiencing double-digit property value hikes, there’s suddenly more emphasis being put on property tax relief.
Perhaps, 2019 is the year the Legislature finally gets something done.
Nebraska’s state senators will have their hands full as they wrangle through various bills touted to bring property tax relief.
