I’m proud to call myself an American

What’s amazing is that not all Americans share that pride.

All the ballyhoo surrounding President Trump’s Salute to America on the 4th of July, was just that—ballyhoo. What our country needed right now was to show the pride we have in our military and our country.
I watched the televised events of that day and it indeed made me proud to be an American. During the evening salute, tears came to my eyes when thousands of people lit up the Washington Mall with the lights on their cell phones in honor of all of our troops and service members who protect our great nation.
What’s amazing is that not all Americans share that pride. According to the Gallup polling organization, the latest overall declines in patriotism are largely driven by Democrats. Surprising, isn’t it?
Historically over the years, Gallup said self-reported pride by Democrats has been lower and has fluctuated more than Republicans.
In their latest poll, Democrats’ measly 22% extreme pride reading is the group’s lowest in Gallup’s 19 years of measurement. It’s half of what it was several months before Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory.
