Finding ourselves at a critical crossroads

We urge our leaders to address and solve these situations...

Whether we realize it or not, we’re facing a crossroads that, depending which road we go down, will undoubtably shape the future of Imperial and our county as a whole.
As if the challenges of the farming economy and its impact on farmers and main street aren’t enough, we find ourselves dealing with some meaty issues.
For starters, we find the city and the county still at odds.
The bond issue for a new hospital created similar friction between those for a new hospital and those against.
Did I mention the city and the county still find themselves at odds.
Two weeks ago, the hospital board decided to go in a new direction administration wise. The CFO is now serving as the temporary CEO until the board finds a new administrator.
To top it off, the school board decided to part ways with its second-year superintendent less than three months into the school year.
Since the 2012-13 school year, we’ve had three different superintendents.
We have a lot of positive things happening right now in Imperial and Chase County in terms of growth.
We’re all in this together so we don’t want to create a situation where people hesitate to make Imperial or Chase County their home or the home of their new business.
Unfortunately, we find ourselves at a critical crossroads. We urge our leaders to address and solve these situations and move us forward in a positive direction. Our future likely depends on it.
