Even the stones will shout out

“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

During the Advent Season, we focus on the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. But the sermon at my church Sunday took an interesting twist about the coming of the Lord.
The message centered on the coming of the Lord—to Jerusalem just days before his crucifixion. Even then, the king came to the city in a lowly manner—riding on a donkey.
That coming was just as lowly as being born in a manger because there was no room in the inn.
Much as the kings and shepherds came to Bethlehem to celebrate the birth of a King, the people of Jerusalem shouted in celebration of the arrival of the King. They put their own cloaks on the trail as Jesus rode into the city, waving palm branches in honor of the King.
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” they shouted.
