Wrestling, volleyball camps aimed at younger athletes

Fundamentals were the focus at a pair of camps at Chase County Schools last week, when wrestlers in grades 2-6 and volleyball players in grades 5-8 gathered on separate days in the school’s auxiliary gym. Above, Ed Rusher of Ordway, Colorado, demonstrates a move on his son, CCS Asst. Wrestling Coach Jeff Rusher, as the 19 youths in the camp July 31 observe. Below, middle school volleyball players work on their passing, setting and hitting skills with the help of high school player Allison Owings, left. The volleyball camp Aug. 1-3 drew an average of 20 girls each day, said Coach Jodie Schuller, who was assisted by six Lady Longhorn players at the camp. (Johnson Publications photos)
