Wrestlers will get back into competition on Saturday

Chase County’s wrestlers will be back in action for the 2020 portion of their season on Saturday.
The Longhorns will travel to the Ogallala Dual Tournament which has a 9 a.m. start.
Coach Matt Vlasin said teams will be divided into two pools where they will wrestle four other teams. After pool results are tallied, the team with the best record from one pool will wrestle their counterpart from the other, No. 2 will be matched up with No. 2 and so on. In all, each team will have five duals during the day, Vlasin said.
Vlasin said he expects all 10 of Chase County’s wrestlers to be in Ogallala Saturday if all are healthy.
On Tuesday, Chase County will take six or several wrestlers to the JV tournament hosted by Perkins County in Grant, with wrestling starting at 2:30 p.m.
Next up will be the Chase County Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18, starting at 9 a.m.
Vlasin said they expect about the same number of teams in Imperial as last year, 13-14, for JV and varsity competition in the Longhorn gym. Alliance will be a new team in the mix this year, he added.
