Wrestlers take first in Curtis; five champions crowned

    Head Coach Matt Vlasin was very pleased with the outcome of last Friday’s Medicine Valley Invite. The Longhorn wrestlers edged out a stout Sedgwick County-Fleming team by 13.5 points. It is a good time of year to be hitting full stride with just a little over a week until the district meet in Valentine. Chase County topped 15 other teams to bring home the traveling battle axe.
    Team scores were Chase County 142, Sedgewick County-Fleming 128.5, Southwest 100, Southern Valley 94, Mullen 89, Sutherland 85.5, Medicine Valley 71, South Loup 64, Hitchcock County 41, Perkins County 41, Dundy County-Stratton 40, Elwood 36.5, Garden County 31, Eustis-Farnam 24, North Platte JV 8 and Wauneta-Palisade 2. Chase Co. had champions in the 145, 160, 170, 195 and 220 pound weight classes.
