Wrestlers split at Hershey-Kimball triangular
The Chase County wrestlers traveled to Hershey, Dec. 19 to face the Panthers of Hershey and the Longhorns of Kimball.
The first dual of the night pitted Kimball and Chase County. Only three matches were actually wrestled due to open weights in opposing teams.
The Longhorns of Chase County won two of the three matches and received five forfeits compared to one match win and two forfeits going to Kimball.
Kenyan Biesecker started the night off with a 6-2 decision win over Connor Cluff of Kimball in the 132 pound class.
Kimball took the lead in the dual when Jaden Mohr scored a pin over Logan Mendenhall in 3:06 to take a 6-3 lead.
Chase County bounced back, receiving forfeits to Caleb Weiss at 145, Trevor Peterson at 152, Kadin Vrbas at 160 and Evan Fisher at 182.
The final match of the dual saw Caine Haarberg pin Stephen Batemanin 2:33 to put Chase County ahead, 33-6.
Eli Hinojosa took a forfeit at 285 to round out Chase Counties scoring and Jordan Cluff and Garrett Pedersen took forfeits for Kimball at 120 and 126 pounds, respectively.
The final score of the dual was Chase County 39, Kimball 18.
In the second dual of the night, Chase County lost a hard fought dual to Hershey 36-42. Once again the teams did not match up well in the weights with only five matches taking place.
