W/P volleyball gets wins to start season

    The W/P Lady Broncos traveled to Trenton to play Hitchcock County in the first volleyball match of the season, on Thursday, August 27.
    The Broncos looked good in the season opener, winning the match in straight sets.
    In the first set, it was all Broncos, winning 25-15. Hitchcock County fought back in the second set, but the Broncos finished strong, winning 25-21.
    In the third set, the Broncos cruised to a 25-16 straight set win to start the year 1-0.
    On Friday night, the Broncos hosted Sandhills Valley and got another clean sweep, winning three straight sets to improve the varsity record to 2-0.
    It was a night of domination by the Broncos, winning 25-5, 25-10 and 25-8. Emma Acton led in kills with 12 followed by K. Fanning and K. Applegarth with five each, M. Yearous 4 and K. Bardsley and A. Wiese with 3 apiece.
    Serving was led by K. Fanning with 11 ace serves, E. Acton had 7, A. Einspahr 4 and N. Walker, Z. Richardson and K. Applegarth with one each.
    The Broncos will host Cheylin/Wallace County for games on Thursday, Sept 3, before traveling to Brady on Friday, Sept 4.
